1- Saqqara

Saqqara area is about 30 km south of Cairo, it has numerous Pyramids. Including the famous Djoser or step pyramid and numbers of mastabas. You can do a half-day tour from your accommodation in Cairo to the Saqqara area. All that you need is a car with a driver and you can choose which pyramid/mastabas you want to visit and buy the ticket at the entrance. If you are interested in ancient Egyptian history and don’t like touristic spots, this is your place then.

2- Badrashin

Badrashin is another non-touristic spot for ancient Egyptian lovers. It is located 40 km south of Cairo. It has different interesting pyramids which represent the first development of the Pyramid building in old Memphis. These pyramids are The Red Pyramid, the Bent Pyramid and The Black pyramids. You can enter inside the Red and bent pyramids. To get there, you will need to rent a car with a driver to stay half a day with you or join other groups to reduce the cost.

3- The Great Giza Pyramids

The Great Giza Pyramids are the most famous pyramids in Egypt and the only surviving ones of the ancient wonders of the world. They are impressive and you should visit them at least once in your life. The area has numerous pyramids; Kufu, Khafra, Mankaroua and their wives’ pyramids. Also, including the sphinx statue. You can do a half-day tour privately or with a group. You can enter inside the pyramids but make sure you don’t have a problem with your heart or backbone. Be careful! This is a very touristic area, so expect some annoying people will want to load you on their camels/horses or sell you their stuff. Just avoid them and enjoy the gold of the past.

4- Nile Felucca

If you are a person who likes quiet, nature and chilling, the Nile Felucca tour is your best choice. Felucca is totally eco-friendly without motor or electricity. Felucca totally depends on old sailing techniques. You can rent the whole Felucca from Maadi or Garden City Cournich for one hour or more. Make sure to buy water and some snacks before you jump on.

5- Old Cairo

Cairo is one of the most historical cities in the world. You can find a moment for any old period, starting from Roman times, Christianity , Jewish, Islamic, Othman , Mamlok, Fatemi ..etc. You have to decide which part of history you are interested in seeing, then join a group or go on a private tour or use yourself using a taxi or Uber. For Islamic Cairo, don’t miss Sultan Hassan mosque, Citadel, Ibn Toulon. For Christianity and Jewish, you can find Jewish all in one area in Mogama El Adyan (religions collective).
